1. Acceptance & Eligibility
By creating an account you agree to these Terms and the disclosures below. You must be at least 18 years old. You confirm the information you provide (including date of birth, height, income band, and education) is accurate. One account per person; accounts are not transferable.
2. Membership Fee & Refunds
Membership requires a one-time fee, charged at signup. Except where required by law, the fee is non-refundable once your profile has been scored and matching has begun. We do not guarantee any number of matches, mutual likes, conversations, dates, or relationships.
3. How Scoring Works (Algorithmic Disclosure)
Ribbit Dating is a score-based matching service. When you upload photos:
- Software detects the face in each photo and a machine-learning model analyzes its facial geometry to produce an attractiveness estimate on a 1–10 scale, trained on datasets of human ratings.
- That estimate is combined with your height, income band, age, and education using weightings we set (which differ by sex and may change) to produce an overall dating score.
- Members with similar scores are matched; the "overlap" percentage shown next to other members is a statistical similarity of your scores, not a prediction of compatibility.
Scores are imperfect. Machine attractiveness estimates are statistical artifacts of their training data and carry known limitations, including reduced accuracy for groups underrepresented in that data. Your numeric scores are never displayed to other members. You may request human review of your score from your account, and photos without a clearly detectable face are reviewed rather than scored. We may recompute scores when you edit your profile, upload or remove photos, or when we update models or weightings.
Love is Blind mode (optional, elected at signup). If you choose this mode: your photos are still analyzed and scored exactly as described above, but they are never displayed to any member, and no member's photos are ever displayed to you — matching proceeds on scores, profile characteristics, and conversation alone. This election is permanent and cannot be reversed from your account; it may be changed only by platform support upon request. Biometric processing and your deletion rights (§4) are identical in this mode.
4. Biometric Data Consent (Required)
Facial-geometry analysis creates biometric information. By checking the biometric-consent box at signup you expressly consent to the following:
- What we collect: your uploaded photos; face-geometry embeddings (numerical representations) derived from them; the resulting per-photo and per-member scores.
- Purpose: solely to compute your scores and operate matching. We do not use your biometric data for advertising, and we do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data.
- Disclosure: we do not disclose biometric data to third parties except processors operating the Service under contract, or where required by law.
- Retention & destruction: biometric data is retained only while your account exists. Deleting your account (Account → Delete) permanently destroys your photos, embeddings, and derived scores. Any residual copies are destroyed within 30 days, and in all cases within the shorter of the purpose being satisfied or three years after your last interaction, as required by applicable biometric privacy laws.
- Withdrawal: you may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; the Service cannot operate without this processing.
5. Other Personal Data
Profile fields such as religion, race/ethnicity, and nationality are optional; if provided, they are shown on your profile and usable as member-set filters but are never inputs to your score. Income is self-reported by band; unverified income is discounted in scoring. Messages are stored to deliver the conversation feature and reviewed only in response to reports or legal requirements. We collect standard technical logs to operate and secure the Service.
6. Member Conduct
You agree not to: misrepresent your identity, age, or attributes; upload photos of anyone other than yourself, or photos of minors in any context; harass, threaten, or abuse members; use the Service for commercial solicitation, escorting, or scams; scrape or attempt to reverse-engineer scores or models; or create multiple accounts. Report abusive behavior via the report function.
7. Absolutely No Discrimination Policy
Our commitments. Protected characteristics — race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity — are never inputs to any member's score. The scoring weights are exactly and only those disclosed in §3: beauty estimate, height, income band, age, and education. We actively monitor beauty-score distributions across racial cohorts and operate a statistical calibration system so that no group is systematically scored above or below another; raw scores are retained for audit and algorithmic-discrimination complaints receive human review. We never use protected characteristics to steer, hide, promote, or rank members, except as an individual member's own explicit search preferences direct. All features, pricing, and moderation standards apply equally to every member.
Member conduct. Harassment, slurs, hate speech, "negging," or demeaning remarks about any member's protected characteristics — in messages, bios, photos, or anywhere on the Service — are prohibited and are grounds for immediate suspension or permanent ban under §8, without refund. Stating your own dating preferences is your right; weaponizing them against other members is not.
Honest scope. Members may filter their own search by attributes including race and religion. Those filters are individual partner preferences under each member's sole control — the platform itself takes no such decisions on your behalf. If you believe you have experienced discrimination on the Service, by a member or by our algorithms, report it to [CONTACT EMAIL].
8. Moderation, Suspension & Termination
We may review photos and reported content, place photos in review, and suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice. 9. Safety Disclaimer
We do not conduct criminal-background or identity screening of members. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members. Exercise caution: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and never send money to people you meet on the Service.
10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy of scores or matches. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the membership fee you paid, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for the conduct of any member on or off the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Content License
You retain ownership of your photos and profile content. You grant us a limited, revocable license to host, process (including the biometric processing described in §4), and display them to other members solely to operate the Service. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the destruction timelines in §4.
12. Changes, Governing Law & Disputes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in-app and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except that new biometric processing will always require fresh express consent.
